A Brightingsea health training specialist is a partner in a new company aimed at promoting health and wellbeing in the community.
Alix Sheppard – well known in the town as one of the founder’s of Brightlingsea WinterFest – and Kim Mitchell have formed the not-for-profit Health Talks Community Training CIC with a mission to deliver high-quality, evidence-based health education that empowers under-represented communities and promotes health equity across Essex and further afield.
The business is built on a decade of work through the pair’s previous venture, Health Talks Ltd, where they designed and delivered nationally-recognised health and wellbeing programmes with a long-term community impact. All profits will be reinvested into expanding services, developing new programmes, and supporting grassroots health initiatives.
“Our new CIC structure allows us to deepen our commitment to social purpose,” said Alix. “We’re not just delivering training—we’re building healthier, more informed communities.”“We believe that everyone deserves access to quality health education,” added Kim Mitchell, Co-Director. “By working in partnership with local organisations, we aim to break down barriers and ensure that no community is left behind.”
