Make sure you have photo ID ready for May 7 polling day

Photo ID needed to vote on May 7

Residents across Tendring are being encouraged to make sure they have the correct photo ID ready for polling day on May 7.

Anyone wishing to vote in person at the Essex County Council elections must show an approved form of identification before they can receive a ballot paper.

Accepted forms of ID include a UK passport or driving licence, a Blue Badge, an older or disabled person’s bus pass, a PASSaccredited proofofage card, or a Defence Identity Card.
A full list of approved IDs is available at www.tendringdc.gov.uk/services/elections-and-voting.

Voters who do not currently have an accepted form of photo ID can still apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate (VAC). Applications are open until 5pm on Tuesday, April 28 and can be made online, or on a form available from the Town Hall in Clacton that can be picked up in person or requested by calling 01255 686575

Deputy Returning Office Ian Davidson said: “It’s important that everyone planning to vote makes sure they have an acceptable form of photo ID ready for polling day.”

He added: “Taking a moment now to check your ID is valid and still a good likeness will help ensure you can receive your ballot paper without delay.”

  • Mat Court, Independent
