How much do you love Brightlingsea? Peter Ronan likes it so much he’s written a song about it – and we think it’s brilliant!
In a collaboration with Colchester-based singer Snappy, ‘Loving Brightlingsea’ has a chorus that is instantly singable, and lyrics that mention just about everything that makes Brightlingsea a great place to live – from beach huts to the music festival, crabbing to All Saints’ Church.

The song has been released as part of a publicity campaign by the Brightlingsea Tourism Advisory Panel, which is about to host a press open day for local media, who’ll be treated to a guided tour of the town, taking in the museum, the Lido, the harbour, promenade and High Street.
Mr Ronan, 54, who was born in Brightlingsea, has given the song to the campaign free of charge and has waived any rights to it. “It was written just for the love of the town,” he said. “I just get these tunes in my head and it kind of spiralled from there,” he said. “I like Brightlingsea and just feel it doesn’t get the credit it deserves.”
Singer Snappy sings R&B and swing. His music can be found on Soundcloud and YouTube.
