Oaklands, the Church Road, Brightlingsea care home recently rated inadequate by Care Quality Commission (CQS) inspectors, has closed and is up for sale.
The 15-bedroomed property is being marketed by the local branch of Stoneridge Estate Agents, with the vendors looking for offers in excess of £550,000 to be submitted by September 9. According to the sale information, planning permission has been submitted to extend the home, which is said to have “substantial outbuildings”.
Last month a CQS report listed a catalogue of failings at the home which included residents being unable to bath or shower for weeks, an unclean kitchen, blocked fire exits, errors with medicines, poor management and inexperienced staff. Following its findings, the CQS placed the home in special measures.
The Companies House website states that Oaklands was run by Primos Care Ltd, though Hornchurch-based Treal Care Ltd is listed as having been “a person with significant control” of Primos since October 2023. Two of the four directors of Primos are listed as directors of Treal, which says it on its website that it is an “innovative home care provider having qualified trained and well experienced professional workforce who ensures that you are been taken care of with passion and compassion”.
Primos Care’s website is no longer active, and there have been no posts on Oaklands’ Facebook page since the end of 2020. When contacted by Brightlingsea Info about the closure, Primos responded: ” We will appreciate if no correspondence is been sent to us again.”
