A Brightlingsea artist and colour therapist who used self-hypnosis during the births of her children has published a mindfulness book sharing her creative meditation techniques.

‘Colour Alchemy – The Art of Healing’ has been written by Emma Baum, who runs therapy sessions and sells crystals and gemstones from the Silver Topaz Therapy Centre in Queen Street.

After studying art and design, Emma moved to London, began counselling training and learned clinically standardised meditation as part of a programme for her own self-care. While working with health charities she set up and supported teams of staff and volunteers delivering helpline, peer support, health promotion and outreach services to people facing long term and chronic health conditions. Alongside her day-to-day work, Emma learned a wide range of holistic therapies and reiki energy healing.

Her use of  self-hypnosis during the births of her children so impressed a midwife that she suggested Emma should teach her method to others and she went to expand her Colour Alchemy method into all areas of her work including one to one, group work and training.

Her most recent offering is a book of guided visualisations which are written as short stories including colours, crystals and nature guides. The book is available on Amazon and features her own multi-media artworks. Find out more about Emma here.
