Students at Brightlingsea’s Colne Community School have been congratulated after receiving their GCSE and other qualification results.
Steven Crane, Head of School, said: “Every year, our students do both themselves and our school very proud with their brilliant results. I want to congratulate each and every one of our Year 11 students not only on their results but for the hard work, dedication and resilience it has taken for them to get to today.
Along with other schools in the Colchester area, the school has not released details about pass rates, but says its top performers this year include Grace Cowling-Newell, Ben Kelly, Noah Ali, Nicole Lambert, Sophie Rokorasei and Kaina Xavier-Phillips.
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, 70.4% of year 11 pupils gained a grade 4 – equivalent to a C-grade – or higher, slightly more than in 2023. Grade 7 – A – or higher was awarded to 22.6%, a slight improvement on the year before. However, the pass rates for pupils gaining a grade 4 or above in maths and English fell slightly, meaning more pupils will have to retake the subjects in post-16 education.
