Brightlingsea Cricket Club is padding up for a busy 2025 season and looking to build on its winning form from last year.

In the Senior section, the Saturday 1st XI moves up to Division 5, having won the Division titles from 9 to 6 in consecutive years. The Saturday 2nd XI returns to the League in Division 9 South, while the Sunday XI will be looking to complete a hat-trick of consecutive League titles.

For juniors looking to move into more senior cricket, there’s a team in the growing T30 League, while anyone looking for a less competitive game will find plenty of opportunities to play with The Railway, the club’s social side. New for 2025 is a new women’s softball team entered into a local friendly league, along with an under-11 girls’ softball team.

The club has grown the numbers of players enjoying cricket in the Disability Section, has more players in the County Squads, and has entered teams in county festivals – including one at the county ground in Chelmsford. A new clubhouse on the Bayard Recreation Ground in Regent Road is heading for completion, offering teams and the wider community much-improved facilities.

With support from Essex Cricket, the club is providing coaching at Brightlingsea Primary School, where children from the age of five can play softball Kwick Cricket and move up to the various hard ball teams.

In preparation for the new outdoor season, the club will start indoor training at Brightlingsea Sports Centre. For junior players this will start on Saturdays from January 11, with mixed indoor cricket at 9am, girls-only at 10am and the disability section at 11am. Indoor nets training for senior players starts on Wednesdays from February 5 from 7.30-9.00pm.

New players are welcome at any of the training sessions, and for more information email [email protected].
