Brightlingsea's traditional Blessing of the Waters ceremony was unable to take place on June 7 owing to lockdown restrictions - but ever-inventive Brightlingsea folk still found ways to mark the event.
The Rev. Caroline Beckett, vicar of All Saints & St. James', encourage residents to decorate their houses and boats – and visited participants with a super soaker, replacing the usual custom of splashing those taking part with seawater. Shanty singers the Motley Crew recorded a song for the event, and their music was used as backing for a video that Caroline put together. Find it here.
