Water quality concerns may be unfounded

Concerns circulating regarding the quality of the town’s bathing waters – sparked by an alert on the Surfers Against Sewage website – may have been unfounded. The report suggested that sewage had been discharged from an overflow following a surge caused by recent heavy rain.

However, the latest Environmental Agency pollution risk forecast for East Anglia said that there were no warnings in place for Brightlingsea on August 4 – or for Clacton, Frinton, Holland or Walton. We’ve now added an info panel on the home page showing data from the agency. For more information, visit Please visit http://environment.data.gov.uk/bwq/profiles.
