Brightlingsea and District Rotary Club’s Santa Sleigh raised a record £6,000 in the run-up to Christmas by travelling round the town and surrounding villages.

Half the monies raised will be divided between Brightlingsea in Bloom, 4 Youth, St Helena Hospice, Brightlingsea Lido, Wivenhoe Scouts and Guides, Alresford Pre and Primary School PTAs, Porridge & Pens, Gt Bentley Primary School PTA and Ladybirds Pre-School Thorrington, all of which helped with the door-to-door collections.

The remainder will be used by the club to support other local charities and good causes in the coming year.
