Brightlingsea Foodbank co-ordinator Win given community award

Community award winner Win Pomroy

Brightlingsea Foodbank co-ordinator Win Pomroy has been a certificate marking her work for the local community from the High Sherriff of Essex, Nick Alston.

The award was made during what Win thought was a factfinding visit by the High Sherriff to the Colchester Foodbank. Instead, she found herself being honoured as one of several community award winners. Win set up the foodbank with her husband, Frank, six years ago and it has been open almost every Wednesday morning ever since.

Said Win: “Whilst it was lovely to feel appreciated, I would like to emphasise that it is not all me – there is an amazing team of volunteers behind me. They work very hard and were there during the length of the pandemic, week in, week out, making sure those in need received their food parcels. Without them the foodbank could not function.”

Brightlingsea Foodbank can be contacted on 07970 480968 or 01206 303902.
