The congregation of a Brightlingsea church has come up with a novel way to raise funds for essential repairs.

The Brightlingsea United Church in Chapel Road has a small congregation which already does a lot of fundraising to keep the 140-year-old building going.

Now the church is calling on anyone who is physically challenged – perhaps using a walker, walking stick, wheelchair or just needing an arm to hold – to take part in a sponsored walk with a difference at Brightlingsea Community Centre at 10am on Saturday, May 18.

The walk will involve laps of the centre’s grounds, with an indoor route if it rains. Refreshments will be available and participants are encouraged to wear fancy dress or a funny hat.

Sponsor forms are available from Spirals in Victoria Place, or from Joyce House on 01206 306530.
