University of Essex senior lecturer Dr. Michael Steinke (see video below) is to give a talk detailing how oysters are helping to protect coastal regions like ours against flooding and erosion on Friday, May 12.

The “Return of the Oysters” event in the Colne Yacht Club will provide the opportunity to find out more about the two oyster species that are found in the River Colne, and to
see a demonstration of sensor systems.
Tickets for the event, which includes a simple buffet supper (not oysters!), cost £12 and are available until May 9 from Elizabeth Foss-Smith on 07899 776620.
