Building starts on Brightlingsea’s men’s shed

After gaining planning permission for its men’s shed project, the Brightlingsea’s Bright Shedders group has started construction.

The community-based charity – which aims to provide a space for men in the town to support each other through woodwork – recently started work on the foundations for the shed on land next to the Scouts on the Lower Park playing field.

Brightlingsea Mayor Mick Barry joined the group’s chairperson, Gary Peck and treasurer Gunter Teichler to help break ground for the shed, which will be built using recycled materials with the aim of being as sustainable as possible.

The aim of Bright Shedders is to help improve the health and well-being of its members by providing a safe, friendly and inclusive environment where men over 18 can meet for a chat over tea and biscuits, and to learn and share skills in the workshop.

The group is seeking volunteers to help with the bulding work, as well as donations of materials and money to help complete the build. If you can help or would like further information contact Gunter Techler on 07934060127 or email [email protected].
