Plant a lockdown hedge in Brightlingsea

November 18, 2020
Hedge planting - Susie Jenkins of the Brightlingsea Nature Network

Stuck for something to do during lockdown? The Brightlingsea Nature Network has organised a Covid-secure community hedge planting event along Morse's Lane, Brightlingsea.

The plan is to put a hedge - dubbed the Lockdown 2 Hedge – along the border of Morse's Field between November 21 and 29. To take part:

  1. Email or call 07527003655 to book a 1 hour slot with your household or support bubble or book on Brightlingsea Nature Network’s Facebook page.  Click book now
  2. Pick up a hedge pack from 36 New Street which includes 12 hedge saplings, map and planting instructions.  (smaller or double size can be requested!)
  3. Grab your spade and walk up to Morses Field behind EWD
  4. Plant your bit of the Lockdown 2 Hedge
  5. Take a selfie and send it to the Network
  6. Go home, put your feet up and feel good!

The hedge to be planted runs alongside Morse's Lane down towards the farm.  It is set out with bamboo canes and is three trees deep. Participants will be on your own or with your household/bubble during their time slot.
