New Brightlingsea Promenade playground should be ready for summer
The £142,000 refurbishment of Pawson's Playground on Promenade Way should be completed in three weeks after starting at the end of February, according to Brightlingsea Town Council.
The playground has been off limits for some time after being damaged by salt water after the tidal surge at the beginning of 2020, which flooded much of the area behind the beach huts. The council says the new equipment has more resistant materials, including galvanised lower parts.
The largest slice of the refurbishment cost – £62,000 – has been met by Tendring District Council, with the remainder made up of an insurance payout of £42,000 and £38,000 from the town council.
