Neighbourhood plan aims to give Brightlingsea residents a voice

A group of local volunteers is asking for the town’s views on a variety of planning issues with a view to compiling the Neighbourhood Plan for Brightlingsea – NPfB.

The plan aims to give local residents a voice when it comes to planning decisions that concern the town so that decisions are shaped by the opinions and priorities of the people who live here. According to the group, when the plan is complete it will be part of the statutory development plan for the district and have legal force.

The group has distributed a leaflet to local households containing a short survey asking residents what they would like to see in the plan – issues could range from the environment, transport, development, local amenities and business.

Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions at the old Pet Shop Girls shop in Victoria Place this Saturday, April 9, from 11am-1pm and at the car boot sale on Promenade Way on Monday April 18 from 8am-noon.

The survey can also be filled out on the group’s website.
