Line-up announced for Brightlingsea Free Music Festival 2021

The full lineup of acts has been confirmed for the Brightlingsea Free Music Festival 2021, which takes place over the weekend of August 7 & 8.

The festival – one of the town’s most popular events – is back on Hurst Green after being cancelled last year because of the pandemic. Running from noon to 8pm on Saturday and noon to  7.30pm on Sunday, the festival features 16 acts, several from Brightlingsea.

Topping the bill on Saturday are Aaron & Grace Bond, the Brightlingsea-based husband-and-wife duo who make up When Rivers Meet. During lockdown, the couple have built up a strong following on social media, and earlier this year took the UK Blues award for most inspirational online performance of the year, as well as being judged the emerging blues artists of the year, the bets blues band and having made the blues album of the year – We Fly Free, released in November 2020.

On Saturday, visitors will also be able to get a Covid-19 vaccination in the Vaccination Bus.

The full line up is as follows:

Saturday, August 7

12.00:  Rosalind Harniess – beautiful melodies to start the day

13.00:  EEEM – local four-piece punk band

14.00:  The Sonic Journeymen – Brightlingsea-based band featuring Jevon Ellis with special guest Izzy Buholzer from USA

15.00: Back Porch- three-piece blues folk from Ipswich

16.00: Hoaxx – established Brightlingsea covers band featuring 16 year old Roma

17.00: Ady Johnson – a festival regular bringing great tunes and original guitar work to the stage

18.00: One by One – another festival regular – Chris West brings his masterly guitar playing and top notch supporting musicians to the stage

19.00: When Rivers Meet – Brightlingsea’s finest, making a rare live appearance following their massive success winning four UK Blues Awards.

Sunday August 8

12.00:  The Motley Crew – shanties from the local band recently seen on TV

12.30: This Circus Life – Colchester originals

13.30: Broomwagon – Brightlingsea Blues man Geoff Cole and his band

14.30: Jamie Williams – another festival stalwart – great tunes from this Chelmsford-based band

15.30: The Miscreants – Joel Fisk and James Payze with their acoustic take on some great classic songs

16.30: Elmer and Friends – Jazz five piece featuring top local jazz musicians.

17.30: Band of fools – lively upmarket folk rock

18.30: A Twist of Abba – Zoe and Kirsty bring stunning harmonies to Abba Classics
