Harbour authorities give jetski update
Work to regulate jetskiers using the waters off Brightlingsea has been stepped up over the summer.
Brightlingsea Harbour reports that as of August 17, it has denied access to 42 personal water craft (PWCs) or jetskis, prevented five attempts of land based anti-social behaviour, received 12 complaints from local residents upset at restrictions, 61 compliments, encountered 66 jetskis on the water and issued 22 warnings.
"We keep all our processes under review, take the dangerous use of PWCs very seriously and, as demonstrated, will always allocate resources to it," says a statement on the harbour website, which urges people to call 999 in an emergency so that police area aware and can dedicate resources to the issue.
