Hard and harbour gear up for Christmas

Brightlingsea Hard and harbour will be be the centre of several Christmas events this year.

For the first time, Father Christmas will be at home in his grotto by the Hard, courtesy of Brightlingsea Harbour.

He’ll be there for 11 days (December 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 21 & 22) between 4 and 7pm, giving local children the chance to hand over a wish list and receive a gift straight from his workshop.

Tickets cost £10 and can be booked on the Harbour website at www.brightlingseaharbour.org. Funds raised will help to support the Brightlingsea Community First Responder Group.

On Sunday, December 4 the Colne Yacht Club will be switching on its Christmas lights at 6pm, with the help of some traditional wassails from local shanty singers the Motley Crew. The lights will be on every evening after that.

And on Friday, December 23 at 6pm, Churches Together in Brightlingsea will be holding a Carols on the Hard event. All are welcome, and there’ll be mince pies and mulled wine on offer.

• For more events over the Christmas period, see the Brightlingsea Calendar. And if you’re running an event this Christmas – or at any time of the year – don’t forget you can add it to the Calendar for free.

  1. We have just got home from a visit to Santa at the harbour – what a lovely experience – cannot recommend highly enough – warming mulled wine, Rudolph not available but sent his bestie horse friend, and canine pal to keep us occupied – Absolutely lovely gifts for the kiddies –
Do hope its a success and it will be repeated next year –
    Thank you to all concerned.
