Make a Fun Fascinator or a Medal of Honour to wear for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee!
About this event
Drop in and make your own Fun Fascinator or Medal of Honour to wear for the Queen's Jubilee! Working in partnership with Vikki Walsh, Brightlingsea Museum is offering free workshops in the lead up to the Jubilee weekend. Ideal for children aged 8 years (younger children will need assistance from an adult), the challenge will be to make their Fascinator or Medal from household recycling. Making the FASCINATORS is a great opportunity to be imaginative and discover ways to realise quirky ideas...far from twee, the Fascinators certainly won't be dainty! The Medals of Honour are a nod to the Queen awarding OBE's and Jubilee medals. Rather than being for excellence the Museum's Medals of Honour will be made as awards for the qualities someone shows as a friend. Being kind, listening, sharing, encouraging others...A lovely way to consider what it means to receive or award a medal!
Thanks to an award from Arts Council England's 'Let's Celebrate Jubilee Fund' (made possible by National Lottery players), Brightlingsea Museum will offer these workshops over the first 3 days of the school half term (Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st May 10.30am to 1.30pm, Wednesday 1st June 10.30am to 3pm). The workshops are only part of the Museum's Jubilee celebrations involving the community. You'll need to look at updates here to see what else will be happening!
Please note, the last sitting for these drop in workshops is 30mins before the Museum closes.
We are looking foward to people taking part in this kick start to the Jubilee celebrations!
