Dovercourt Vines and Parkeston councillor Bill Davidson was elected chairman of Tendring District Council (TDC) for the next year at the council’s annual meeting on Tuesday, April 29.
He replaces West Clacton & Jaywick Sands councillor Dan Casey, who helped to raise funds for Clacton RNLI, the East of England Ambulance Service and Sonny’s Army, a Jaywick-based charity that helps families with children in hospital, during his year in office.
In addition to presiding over TDC full council meetings, the chairman of the council plays a ceremonial role, representing the council and district at various civic events. Ann Oxley, who represents the Walton ward, is the new vice-chairman.
