Writers publish anthology of works inspired by Brightlingsea

Brightlingsea writers and poets from the Brightwords writing group have released their second anthology.

The Cinque Port Collection, which also features guest writers, features work inspired by Brightlingsea. Some pieces, such as The Road In, are inspired by Brightlingsea, whilst others, such as The Road Out, are written about the world beyond Thorrington Cross.

“Some will make you laugh, some may make you cry,” said group member Ruth Loten. “Hopefully, as a collection they will inspire the reader to pick up their own pens and write.”

The foreword is writted by Sarah Banham, who runs the Writers of Essex group. She said: “With natural dialogue and spot-on imagery, I feel as if I’ve personally seen architecture both modern and historic, listened to voices sharing their memories within the community, and even been spooked by images both seasonal and political.”

The book costs £5 and is available at the Lido cafe from 9:30-12 on December 2, on a stall at the Late Night Shopping event on the same day, from the arts and crafts fair in the YMCA on December 2&3 and at the launch in Brightlingsea Museum on the evening of Tuesday 6th.

Copies can also be ordered via [email protected]
