A Brightlingsea man is to mark his 60th year by running the London Marathon – raising money for the Brightlingsea Stroke Group in the process.

Dave Mooney began running 10 years ago, but has never taken on the 26-mile distance before. “It’s a personal challenge,” said Dave. “It’s daunting and exciting.”

He’s set himself a sponsorship target of £1,500, which will help the Stroke Group – which relies entirely on donations – to continue its work, providing essential support, rehabilitation and hope to local residents and their families affected by strokes.

The group meets every Monday in Brightlingsea Regent Football Club, helping stroke survivors with physiotherapy, health and general welfare. Look for the entry in the Brightlingsea Calendar for more details.

Sponsorship pledges for Dave’s run on April 27 can be made online here.
