Emergency waterworks on Chapel Road, Brightlingsea caused confusion for bus drivers who found a barrier across their normal route.
One new driver who was unfamiliar with the roads around the town turned into Spring Road, with residents reporting that the bus then had to head up North Road before being able to turn around in the entrance to Brightlingsea Regents’ ground.
Buses were diverted from their usual route into town via Chapel Road, Hurst Green and High Street after the road was blocked overnight on Tuesday/Wednesday, May 14/15. However, at least one driver didn’t get the message and instead had to reverse back up Chapel Road before being able to follow the alternative route from Bellfield Avenue via Red Barn Road, Seaview Road and Ladysmith Avenue.
The works – by Affinity Water – are scheduled to be completed by May 20 and the road will remain closed until then.
