A vacancy has arisen on Brightlingsea Town Council after councillor Bev Maltby (pictured below) stood down following a family member’s illness.
Town mayor Ric Morgan paid tribute, saying the council would “miss her focus and enthusiasm to promote a safer and cleaner environment for all”.
He added: “Cllr Maltby was well-respected within council and was always willing to support our team effort for the benefit of residents and visitors to our Town.”
An official notice of resignation was posted on September 29 and an election may be held if more than one candidate comes forward within 14 working days of that date. Otherwise the council can co-opt a new member to bring its complement back up to 12.
