Over 100 people visited Brightlingsea museum on Saturday to meet Elaine Richardson, author of the new book “The Untold Story of Herbert Sullivan”.
The subject of the book lived in the Manor House – now the site of the Manor estate – and was the nephew of the composer Sir Arthur Sullivan.
Herbert lived in the house, which was demolished in the late 1960s, from 1903-1921 and was Deputy of the Cinque Port Liberty in 1910.
The museum featured a special display on the Manor House and visitors were be entertained with a selection of Gilbert & Sullivan duets by local singers Stephen Foster Pilkington and Katy Bingham-Best (pictured below, right of picture).
Copies of the book are available at the museum which is now open five days a week, on Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2pm to 5pm and Saturdays from 11am to 5pm
