Congratulations to Brightlingsea Primary School’s choir, which has won Colchester Rotary Club’s Junior School Choir competition for the third year running.
Having won their heats the week before, the 30-strong choir sang their hearts out on Tuesday (November 21) in the final at the Girls’ High School in Colchester. Over the whole competition, the choir beat seven other local schools to take the top spot.
The 30-strong-choir – with singers aged from eight to 11 – performed Like a Candle Flame and O Come and Join the Dance by Graham Kendrick and The Rhythm of Life from Sweet Charity.
Led by teacher Emily Smith and accompanied by Chris Bloor, the choir actually has around 80 members, but numbers are restricted for the competition.
The singers will be out again for the town’s late night shopping event on December 1, performing in Victoria place from 5.30pm.
