Brightlingsea pub The Railway Tavern has been named as Tendring’s Pub of the Year for the second time by the district’s branch of the Campaign for Real Ale.
CAMRA members – who carried out two rounds of voting over the last year – said the Station Road pub won thanks to its well kept real ales. The family-run alehouse previously won the award in 2020 and came third in 2021.
Landlady Sarah Capon said she was thrilled to have won again. “This is a huge achievement for us,” she said.
“Our top priority is selling real ales from small, local breweries and helping to keep those breweries going. Like us, they have had an extremely tough time during Covid and the after effects are still carrying on. This award is for them as much as us.”
