Brightlingsea Primary School’s choir has won through to the final of Colchester Rotary Club’s Junior School Choir competition.
The school’s choir has won the annual competition twice before and beat three other schools to secure a place in next week’s final at the Girls’ High School in Colchester.
The 30-strong-choir – with singers aged from eight to 11 – performed Like a Candle Flame and O Come and Join the Dance by Graham Kendrick and The Rhythm of Life from Sweet Charity.
Led by teacher Emily Smith and accompanied by Chris Bloor, the choir actually has around 80 members, but numbers are restricted for the competition.
Recently the choir performed in Brightlingsea at the Voices for Hospice Concert and sang shanties with members of the Motley Crew at an open day event in All Saints’ Church. The singers will be out again for the town’s late night shopping event on December 1, performing in Victoria place from 5.30pm.
