The madcap adventures of Brightlingsea’s all-action cat Max have caught the attention of a top film director – and could see him win a starring role in a blockbuster movie.
Details of Max’s possible big break on to the big screen are still under wraps, but Brightlingsea Info has learned that Max has already been auditioned for the part in a long-running dystopian film series – and we understand he performed so well he’s been called back for a screen test.
Max is well known to Brightlingsea residents and visitors and is a regular visitor to the Promenade, beach huts and Brightlingsea Lido. In the last few years he’s narrowly avoided serious injury after being hit by a car, has gone missing from home on at least two occasions – once turning up in Luton – and has nearly been taken out of town inadvertently after napping in a visitor’s car.
Speaking exclusively to Brightlingsea Info, a spokesman for the film’s production company said: “We read about Max’s adventures on social media and immediately thought he could be just right for the part of the hero’s cat. And having seen him on the roof of cars and on the back of motorbikes it looks like he’ll be well able to cope with the sort of stunts involving crazy vehicles that the films are famous for.”
The spokesman added: “We don’t just want a fearless cat, we need a friendly one too – and it’s obvious from hundreds of comments on Max’s Facebook page that Max is also a big softie and likes a cuddle. We’d have been mad not to have tried him out for the role.”
If Max wins the part then it’s understood he’ll be flown to Australia for filming next year. Worldwide fame could follow – along with the prospect of being immortalised in a series of Max action figures that could be launched along with the movie. It’s understood that the release of the film is scheduled for April 1, 2024.
