Essex Police are appealing for the public’s help to identify a group of jetski riders who were reported to be speeding and riding dangerously around Brightlingsea and elsewhere on the River Colne.
On Sunday, 25 June at around 6pm, officers from the Essex Marine Unit were called to several locations in Brightlingsea, Wivenhoe, Rowhedge and Point Clear Bay following multiple reports of public order offences and anti-social behaviour.
A group of male riders – one of who is pictured right – was reported to be causing distress to members of the public, speeding and deliberately attempting to cause paddle-boarders to fall into the water.
Comments on social media claimed that passengers on the Wivenhoe to Rowhedge ferry were soaked by wash from the watercraft.
Information can be uploaded to the Essex Police website – see this link for details on how – or by calling 101. Anonymous reports can be made via the the Crimestoppers website or by calling 0800 555 111.
