Essex residents, businesses and visitors are being encouraged to have their say on the key principles of a new strategy which will guide the future of transport in the county.
Essex County Council’s (ECC) public consultation on its new Essex Transport Strategy, formally known as the Local Transport Plan, closes on Sunday September 22. It focuses on key themes and outcomes, and feedback will be used to help inform further development of the strategy.
Tom Cunningham, ECC’s Cabinet Member for highways, infrastructure and sustainable transport, said: “Transport is vital to our everyday lives. It underpins all we do, whether this be travelling to and from work, doing the school run, visiting the local shops, or moving goods and services.
“Our emerging Essex Transport Strategy will be influential in setting important transport priorities for Essex and unlocking future funding opportunities. It builds upon our Safer, Greener and Healthier visions, while reflecting the opportunities and challenges we now face in Essex.”

A second consultation on the full draft strategy and a programme of planned investment in different parts of Essex is expected to take place early next year.
