Brightlingsea will be swinging to the sound of gospel music this weekend thanks to workshops being run by the founder of the London Community Gospel Choir.
On Friday (March 1) Reverend Bazil Meade, MBE, will run a gospel singing workshop for pupils of Brightlingsea Primary School, assisted by his daughter, Stephanie – who’s sung backing vocals for artistes including Celine Dion, Florence and the Machine and Westlife – and local teacher Alison Benz, who runs the Women in Harmony Choir.
The day after, Bazil – known as the ‘Godfather of British Gospel’ – Stephanie and Alison will be in St James’ Church to host a day-long workshop, the third in Brightlingsea, followed by a concert open to all between 5.30pm and 6.30pm where participants will show off their newly-learned skills.
The St James’ workshop is open to all singers aged 14 to adult (14-18 with parental consent ) and from 11 if accompanied by a parent or guardian who’s taking part. No experience is necessary.
Tickets cost £35 from Ticketsource or Alison Benz on 07941 023788, email [email protected]
