A group of local organisations has pulled together a one-stop-shop event to put money back in the pockets of householders feeling the pain of high energy price rises.
Community Energy South has announced Tendring District’s first Energy Efficient Homes Fair, to be hosted at Brightlingsea Community Centre, on Saturday 11th May from 11am-2pm. The event is being organised with the support of Brightlingsea Town Council, Tendring District Council and Essex County Council.
Through a mix of Q&A panels and seminars, Brightlingsea householders will be offered personalised advice on how to slash their energy bills by making their homes energy efficient and how to make simple, cost-effective shifts to low carbon energy, such as air source heat pumps. Climate action groups and local businesses and services will also be in attendance.
Cllr David Atkinson, chairman of the environment and transport committee at Brightlingsea Town Council said: “There is growing interest in energy-saving in Brightlingsea with homes and commercial buildings already feeling the benefit. There is a long way to go and if just 10% of households improved their energy efficiency, they could reduce their total bills by £120,000 and also help reduce harmful carbon dioxide emissions by 600 tonnes per year.”
Admission is free bu places are limited. More information and advance booking can be found at: www.communityenergysouth.org/communipower
