Brightlingsea’s Colne Delta Blues & Americana Club has handed over a cheque for £1,020 to help local folk through the Brightlingsea WinterFest Wellbeing Fund.
The money was raised at a concert organised by the club and held in St James’ church in February as part of the month-long WinterFest run of events.
Local bands Vic and the Vapour Rubs and When Rivers Meet performed at the concert for free, with entry fees and the proceeds of a raffle going towards the total raised.
Gary Gilders, of the Colne Delta club, presented the cheque to WinterFest joint founder Dave Griffiths at the club’s recent monthly meeting in the Community Centre.
WinterFest’s Wellbeing Fund was established in 2019 event to help people in Brightlingsea help improve their mental, physical or social wellbeing. The fund provides grants of up to £100 to pay for items or activities such as sports activities, family days out, music lessons or art tuition. Community groups can apply for grants of up to £250.
