The main road in to Brightlingsea was blocked for time after a car hit a tree and flipped on to its roof on the afternoon of June 17.
Police and ambulance staff attended, but the the female driver and her passengers – understood to be children – were reported to be unhurt.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, near the junction of Maltings Road and Church Road.
Traffic entering the town was diverted down Maltings Road while staff from the Colne Community College and a post office worker blocked the road off by the junction of Manor House Way.
School buses were held up in the school grounds while the car was winched on to a recovery truck. The road was reopened at around 3.25pm.
