The Brightlingsea Primary School choir took top spot in the Rotary Junior Choir competition this week (Thursday, November 17).
The 30-strong group were one seven schools in the overall competition – and faced three others in the final at the Colchester County High School for Girls, having won their heat two days before.
Each one of the four choirs sang two songs, one of which was set by the organisers. “It was very exciting!,” said one Brightlingsea singer. “It was quite nerve-wracking!”
The school choir. which rehearses for an hour once a week, is led by teacher Emily Smith with help from Brightlingsea pianists Chris Bloor and Adrian Ure.
The choir’s next event is singing the music from The Snowman with Essex Youth Orchestra, on 2nd December at Charter Hall. Tickets can be bought here: https://colchester-events.co.uk/event/the-snowman-live/
