Brightlingsea Lido has made the finals of the 2021-2022 East of England Tourism Awards in the Experience of the Year category.
The selection panel said that the team behind the community-run pool were “able to deliver a great customer experience” and “were totally involved in ensuring guests to the pool have a fantastic and safe time”.
Lido trustee Mick Barry echoed the citation from the judges, praising the work of the pool’s staff and volunteers and adding: “We have overcome floods and plague. Can we just have a normal year please!”
The pool is up against four other visitor experiences in the competition – two in Cambridgeshire, one in Norfolk and one on Mersea Island – and the Experience category is one of 15 aimed at recognising all aspects of the tourism industry in the region. The winner will be announced on February 24 at a dinner held in the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.
