Brightlingsea Foodbank is calling for urgent help to replenish its stocks, which have fallen to an all-time low.
The situation means that the Foodbank has had to reduce the size of the packs it gives to those in need and reduce the value of its fresh food vouchers.
Residents are being asked to buy an “extra something” when out shopping and to drop it into the Foodbank’s collection baskets in the town’s Tesco, Spar or Co-op stores.
“Something we all hate doing is having to ask for help,” said Brightlingsea Foodbank volunteer Bob Walsh. “When new clients come through our door we know how much courage and pride swallowing it must take to ask complete strangers for food because they are unable to afford to buy it themselves. So hopefully you can understand how difficult this is for us to ask for your help in replenishing our food stocks which are currently at an all time low.”
The Foodbank is open on Wednesday mornings between 10am and noon in the Parish Hall in Victoria Place CO7 0BP between 10am and 12.30pm. For more information, see the Foodbank entry in our Essential Info section.
