A boat that was leaking fuel was towed back to Brightlingsea by a lifeboat crew from Clacton RNLI.
The Atlantic B-Class lifeboat, ‘David Porter MPS’, launched just before noon on on Saturday, March 16, and found the broken down vessel around near its last reported position in the Whitaker Channel off Bradwell. The sea state was said to be slight and visibility good.
Upon arrival at the location the volunteer crew checked on the welfare of the three people aboard, who were all safe and well. The boat was then towed back to Brightlingsea harbour, where it was safely moored. The coatguard’s Clacton Response Team (CRT) then took over to offer support and advice.
The lifeboat crew returned to the lifeboat station where the boat was cleaned, refuelled and back on service by 3.30pm.
