Could you be a Golden Key Volunteer for the All Saints’ Tower of Strength Project?
The aim is to develop a network of volunteers interested in Brightlingsea history, architecture, art or the great outdoors who would like help with a variety of projects planned for Brightlingsea’s ‘Old Church’ once the current restoration work is completed.
Restoration of the Tudor tower and the addition of an extension for an indoor toilet and kitchenette is mostly being paid for by a £498,000 National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The installation of scaffolding around the tower is nearing completion so that work to repair the parapets, pinnacles and stonework can begin. The church wil be closed to the public while the work takes place, but once complete the plan is to use the 13thC building for a variety of community projects.
