A joint painting project by a mum and daughter is highlighting the town’s waterfront in an exhibition at Brightlingsea library.
Artist and textile designer Becky Jackson, of the artists in residence at Brightlingsea Lido, had the idea for the Beachscapes exhibition.
Last summer she set herself a challenge to paint a seascape every day, based on a walk on the same day around Brightlingsea’s waterfront.
Becky’s nine-year-old daughter Norah decided to join in with the challenge and over the summer holidays they had many walks and painted lots of pictures.
“It was quite a challenge dedicating the time during a busy summer, but it was great for many reasons,” said Becky.
“Getting outside in the fresh air for a walk every day by the seafront felt so good. The view from the Prom changed every day, the sea and sky were always different and inspiring to paint.
“A year on and we are still enjoying painting by the sea. We are delighted to have a selection of our paintings on show at Brightlingsea Library throughout September and are hoping that people will enjoy seeing them.”
The 24 pieces of work by Becky and Norah are on display in the library during normal opening hours.
The paintings are all for sale at £20 each. For more details about Becky’s work see Beachscapes on Facebook and beckyjackson.artist on Instagram.
